What is the Boma NZ Education Fellows Programme?

Technology and innovation are changing everything—the way we educate cannot be left behind.

Over the course of 2019, 2020, and 2021, Boma New Zealand will enable three groups of 10 motivated, Canterbury-based secondary school educators to become Boma NZ Education Fellows, powered by Christchurch Airport.

Each group of Fellows will experience a free, year-long programme designed to help them explore ways of bringing exponential thinking, technology, and innovative leadership into their schools.

All of these learning experiences will enable the Fellows to create their own hands-on projects within their secondary schools, resulting in tangible outcomes that can be scaled to others in the wider education community.

Christchurch Airport

The Boma NZ Education Fellows is generously powered by Christchurch Airport, who are passionate about championing the South Island and changing the lives of residents and visitors for the better, forever.

By powering the Boma NZ Education Fellows, Christchurch Airport makes a significant contribution to the social and educational wellbeing of Christchurch and Canterbury.

Building a socially strong and educated South Island in turn helps build a strong New Zealand. Christchurch Airport’s support of the Boma NZ Education Fellows enables Canterbury-based secondary school educators to create tangible impact in the lives and communities of their students, delivering even wider-reaching benefits for New Zealand in the years to come.

“We make it our mission to partner with innovative companies to disrupt our own world at Christchurch Airport. We believe the 3 Ds—digitisation, data, and disruption—will reshape how our business operates and the type of people we'll need to make it work in the future. That's why it's so important to make an investment in the next generation of Christchurch and Canterbury.”

Malcolm Johns | Chief Executive, Christchurch Airport

Boma New Zealand

Boma New Zealand supports business leaders, politicians, educators, entrepreneurs, young people, and changemakers to navigate our rapidly changing world, so that we can be more intentional and intelligent about the future we’re creating.

As a local partner of the Boma Global network, we deliver transformational events, festivals, leadership programmes, workshops, and experiences, all geared toward tangible actions and outcomes. The Education Fellows programme is one of these offerings.

We feel both privileged and excited to offer the Education Fellows programme. You are already on a mission to transform learning for young people, and our ambition is to turbocharge that mission and support you to have the biggest possible impact on the next generation.

We’re also incredibly grateful to Christchurch Airport for their support; it was their vision and long-term thinking that drove the creation of this programme. They understand a simple yet powerful formula: an investment in educators equals an investment in young people equals an investment in the future of Ōtautahi Christchurch and Aotearoa New Zealand.
